Coronavirus Response - Update 01TO ALL MEMBERS, ASSOCIATE MEMBERS AND FRIENDS OF SALT CHURCH
Salt Church Response
Further to my letter sent earlier today; things are moving rapidly.
Los Alcazares has already been locked down along with Murcia, which means that services at Salt Church, Los Alcazares are suspended. The same situation will soon be here
State of Alert Announcement Expected
We have heard from several sources and the official media that the Government will be announcing a state of alert at midnight tonight and will be seeking to restrict movement to contain the virus for the next 15 days and possibly more.
I have received information that the town of Los Montesinos is looking to lock down as there are no cases of the virus and they want to restrict visitors coming to the town.
An escalation to restrict movement and gatherings is top of the agenda and of course we respect this action plan in every way.
All Church Gatherings Suspended
We have decided that the responsible thing to do is to suspend all church functions and gatherings.
This will include:
- cleaning tomorrow,
- the Sunday service,
- Council meeting,
- Wednesday Bible study,
- Israel prayer group,
- Home Groups and the
- Seafront Team
(if I have missed any group please consider yourselves included) until further notice..
Word for Today?
Helena and I are working on putting together a ‘Word for Today’ type message which we will record and put onto the website, for those who would like to listen.
We can all support each other over the various social media platforms that most of us are part of.
Keep checking this website www.saltchurch.es and Facebook @saltchurchspain for messages and relevant updates.
Helena and I and the pastoral care team will not be making any routine visits whilst this outbreak is going on unless there is a real emergency.
If you are unwell and need help to get shopping or medicines please call either
- Wendy Withrington
- Barbara Williams or
- Jacqui Campbell
… and we will do all we can to help.
Difficult Times Ahead
This may be a difficult time for all of us in one way or another.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all and your families, especially for those who may be affected by this dreadful virus.
If anyone wants confidential prayer support, please feel free to let me know. Otherwise let Sandra North know for inclusion on the Prayer line.
Watch this space!
We will update you as information is received and I trust you will all stay safe and well.
Please do all you can to protect yourselves and we pray the blessing and protection of a loving God over each one of you.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
